The Folk Center craftmen were located in air conditioned buildings, one craft per building. Very friendly and happy to answer questions. Outdoor musical entertainment was very enjoyable, as 4 youth played string instruments and sung folk music. We had lunch at the restaurant, and the food was delicious! All of the area was clean throughout the areas for visitors, and the well maintained flowers were lovely. The items were for sale directly from the craftsmen as well as from the Folk Center store. The tram provided free transportation up the long uphill climb from the parking area.
What an awesome state park!!! We spent about 5 hours here and still had some more we wanted to see and do! Great time for all ages and families.
Granted the $15 per person was a little steep. Although this is one of the biggest staffs I've seen at a state park before that really enjoy all that they do.
Cabins were nice and clean with lots of amenities.Very friendly and helpful staff. The food from the buffet was delicious, and there were always a couple of choices for the main entree. The auditorium was nice and cool and the music was fun and lively! Will definitely return!
This place is SO COOL. It's like a silver dollar city but without the rollercoasters...and way cooler because it is REAL trades selling their work. Seriously cool. Stay at their cabins, too. They are old, but definitely peaceful and really neat. They back up to the forest so if you get the right cabin you have quite a bit of privacy.
Craft Village was nice. The reason why I am giving such a low rating is because I did not expect a State Park to charge me $15 a person to enter into Craft Village which is basically shops to spend money. Granted, the shops are all super awesome with local amazing artist. We purchased several very unique items but why would I need to pay admission fee in order to spend money? I could have understood a state park entrance fee of $5.00 per car which is common with state parks but $15 per person at the entrance of Craft Village (in the gift shop) is excessive. Especially since the park consisted of nothing but Craft Village.
